The pole-jump avoidance task is a discriminated one-way active avoidance task. Our fully automated test boxes for mice and rats are equipped with shockable grid floor, house / stimulus light and loudspeaker. The acrylic front door allows the operator to observe the animal throughout the experiment. The animal has to climb up a pole in response to a stimulus - usually a sound - to avoid a shock delivered through the floor of the box. User-defined experimental designs for data acquisition and test trials can be created using a flexible programming software.
